ScoutToy Barrel

at Roaring Rock Restaurant

For the last 14 years it’s been almost the same .. The Christmas Toy Drive, under the guidance of Boy Scout Troop #157 – Washington, NJ, has placed a “toy barrel” in our lobby on the day after Thanksgiving.

It never fails .. This little known and isolated restaurant has, without a doubt, the ‘greatest out-pouring’ of children’s toys from our customers to be seen anywhere in this county and every year it gets better !

The barrel overflows and toys are stacked on the floor and up the walls of our lobby.

 We even have a “Secret Santa” for all these years – an anonymous husband and wife from Belvidere who have no children of their own but throughout the year purchase an occasional toy or game in anticipation of our toy barrel.

We never see them when they arrive or depart but we know they’ve visited by the “bags” of the most wonderful gifts that they leave !

It’s customers like this that make this old place exactly what it is …

          “a little special”.

 All of these toys & gifts are the ‘last’ to be picked up and wrapped by the scouts and are distributed only in “Washington Township – Oxford and Washington Borough” from a list of families in need.
