bistro (Fr) ; café, coffeehouse, grill, buvette (Fr) ; rathskeller, caberet.

Bistro is Russian for ‘quick’ and Russian troops, entering Paris in 1815, were all yelling ‘bistro’ at the top of their voices … they were starving and wanted sustenance in a hurry !

The bistro first became popular in 1940’s Paris when it might have been a café or a snack bar or even a small restaurant

Café, in French, does not indicate an establishment that serves food … “drinks” are all you can guarantee at cafes.

One of Warren County’s few remaining 18th Century dwellings in continuous since 1750. The building is part of an original log cabin built on this site near the Roaring Rock Brook.

It was once a colonial stagecoach stop and meeting place for country folk to gather and exchange news & gossip of the day.

The Oxford Furnace, the Scranton Family & Thomas Edison all had direct influences here.
