Thanksgiving in North America originated from European & American Indian
traditions to give thanks for a good harvest !
Thanksgiving holiday tradition traces it’s origins to a 1621 celebration at
Plymouth, Massachusetts but also to Jamestown, Virginia in 1607.
The
purpose of both was to give thanks
and rejoice ‘together’ for a
good harvest after much hard work
Today it’s still about family and friends gathering together, eating, football
games, falling asleep in big chairs & on couches and of course – at 7-8-9:00,
turkey sandwiches with gravy & more stuffing
or whatever !!
