Trivento Winery from Argentina & Live Sheep Herding Demo

Carolyn Wilki from Raspberry Ridge Sheep Farm in Bangor, PA will be here to narrate and explain this event.

At various dates yearly, all breed “Herding Instinct Tests” are held at Raspberry Ridge Farm to assess the herding behaviors lying dormant in pet dogs who probably have never seen a sheep before !

“On many weekends, we offer clinics in sheep herding or dog behavior and training. When we train dogs at Raspberry Ridge, regardless of what we are teaching, we use ‘positive reinforcement’ behavioral techniques because they work most quickly, most humanely and most effectively on the dog.

By contrast, it is usually much harder to train the person than the dog!”

Trivento‘The Three Winds’ Winery

The winery is named after 3 winds that sweep through the vineyards giving the grapes their unique character.

  • The Polar icy wind in Winter with cold that forces the sap deep within the vines.

  • The Zonda wind that rushes down off of the Andes from the West with warmth that envelops each plant rousing the dormant sap to supply new Spring growth.

  • The Sudestada wind that draws in from the East, fresh yet humid and gives the grapes a rest from the hot sun and slows berry ripening.

Many factors contribute in making Argentina an ideal country for wine production. Diverse regions give it distinct climates and soils that yield crops of a diverse variety of grapes.
