- More About New Orleans -Part of
it’s history is similar to Australia’s .. Much of the
population in the early days was made up of the ‘wildest’
and the most undesirable characters : deported galley
slaves,
trappers, native Americans, gold hunters, city scoundrels,
riffraff, English, Africans, French, Spanish, Cubans,
Creoles
!
Considering all this, it has become one
of the most popular cities
in this Country as a destination for tourists, architecture,
American jazz has some of it’s ‘roots’ here, Spring break
for
College students but most of all; Mardi-Gras and food !
Food is ‘the tie that binds us all’ but nowhere else is
there
Food like New Orleans and the menu for this event is
being put together and will be sent to you all shortly !
The history of New Orleans traces
the city's development from it's founding by the French,
through it's period under Spanish control then back to
French rule before being sold to the U.S. in the Louisiana
Purchase. It has been one of the most important cities in
the South for most of it's history !
Before the founding of New Orleans the area was inhabited by
Native Americans for thousands years of starting at about
1000 BC. It went from Spanish back to French control before
being sold to the U.S. by Napoleon in April 1803.
Known for it's cosmopolitan population with a mixture of:
Americans, Africans, French and Creoles (people of French &
African descent born in America).

many different foods !
