The Menu
& The Wines
The
Victorian town of Mendocino became very famous in the 1970s & 1980s due to
a TV show that
became very popular and is still on in re-runs. The show implied that it was
filmed on the East Coast and featured a ‘murder mystery’ every week.
Do you
know what it was ?
Wine grapes came to
Northern California shortly after the Gold Rush in 1850. Wineries in Napa &
Sonoma became large-scale operations while those in Mendocino remained much
smaller and they barely ‘scraped by’ supplying the locals and some Religious
Organizations. By the time that prohibition had come & gone, it had put most
Mendocino vineyards out of business !
