“Big Stash’s” Afternoon - 2/5/12

… Starting at 12:00PM till late in the afternoon … 

So, what is Big Stash’s ?

It’s one of the very rare Eastern European Ethnic Restaurants remaining on the East Coast and it’s located on South Wood Ave. 1 ½ blocks below Route #1 in Linden, NJ ! 

I remember going there with my family in the 40s and in fact Carol & I go there every now & then to make what we call “a Big Stash’s run” .. a return to the old neighborhood and what better way to celebrate than with “food”, the everlasting ‘common denominator’!

In truth, the place hasn’t changed much and neither has the great food but what is interesting – you have a choice: Sit at a table and have waitress service of or pick up tray and go cafeteria style = your choice and most interesting is that you will hear folks in their 20s & 30s speaking Polish !

Clean is an understatement and plenty of tables, a big oval bar, the food area and if you sit just right .. you can see right into the kitchen.

One of the few remaining places where you can go, relax and eat a great home cooked meal that’s very reasonably priced in this day and age !

Lots of Polish Bakeries & Delis in the area, very friendly area, waitresses, patrons, kielbasa & homemade pierogies, corned beef, pastrami on ‘Old-World’ rye bread, best potato salad & cole slaw & much, much more.

Carol will be shopping at Pulaski Market for all food !
