It’s a great time for some leaf-peeping along our scenic country roads. Or try something different: See the leaves from above, as you soar in a hot air balloon or glider. You’ll have a bird’s-eye view of Warren County’s rolling hills and farmland, with the terrain forming a crazy quilt of patterns and colors below you. Even when the leaves are off the trees, you’ll see a blazing blanket of color on the ground. To go up, up and away:

Sunday, Nov. 3: Warren County Historical Learning Center at Bread Lock Park. A project developed under an agreement between the non-profit Highlands Project and the Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the center features local history models and displays including the Oxford Furnance, Shippen Manor, Morris Canal and Lenape Indians. Sunday, Nov. 3: Phillipsburg-Easton Halloween Parade. Warren County’s largest Halloween parade returns with the theme "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.’’ 1:30pm, rain or shine, along South Main Street, Phillipsburg, across the Northampton Street "free bridge’’ into Easton, Pa.

Sunday, Nov. 3: Wine & Food Pairing at the Roaring Rock Restaurant, featuring six wines of Concha Y Toro Vineyards of Chile matched to a multi-course meal of Nuevo Latin-American Cuisine. $35/person, pre-registration with payment required. 12:30-3:30PM. Thursday, Nov. 8: An Evening of Poetry with Gerald Stern and Jim Haba. Stern is a former New Jersey Poet Laureate, while Haba is poetry director for the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, organizing all nine of the biennial Dodge Poetry Festivals, the largest poetry events in North America. This free presentation is part of the Visiting Authors Series at Warren County Community College, 475 Route 57 West, Washington. 7:30pm. Friday, Nov. 8: Recent Ramblings by Dr. Leonard L. Rue III. A slide presentation of Dr. Rue's recent expeditions. Rue, the most published wildlife photographer in North America, is a local author, photographer and naturalist. 7pm, Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch of the Warren County Library, 4 Lambert Road, Blairstown. Opening Friday, Nov. 8: Park the Car in Harvard Yard. Presented by the Centenary Stage Company, this play is a hilarious, deeply moving tale about the toughest, meanest teacher ever to set foot in Gloucester High School and the housekeeper he hires to look after him, forgetting that he had flunked her...and her mother and father before her.
